What age do you have to be to get a motorcycle leaners permit in NC?

I’m 15 i’ll be 16 in February, and I really need to drive. I don’t have enough money to buy a car and put gas in it, so I was going to get a motorcycle or scooter. Am I old enough to get the permit now? If so how do I go about getting it? And what are the restrictions of a learners permit for a motorcycle? I know on a car you have to have a licensed driver with you, but that’s not always possible on a motorcycle.

i dont know about NC but i live in NY and you can get one when ur 16 with a parents signature and 18 by yourself. if u buy a scooter ur gunna apply for the m2 licenses but a motorcycle ur gunna get the m1. to get it go to ur local DMV and you have to take a 20 question test (same as a normal driving permit and its 21 dollars here in new york) the restrictions are you have to be within a quarter mile of someone that has a licenses, no riding at night, no passengers, and no highway.. to get full detail just go to 4dmv.com

In NC you can drive a 49cc or less scooter without any license or insurance. You just need to wear a helmet. Those scooters are cool for commutes to school or work or just trolling around town. Definitely not for highway use.

I feel that’s an interesting point, it created me feel a bit. Thanks for sparking my thinking cap. In some cases I get so much in a rut that I just feel like a record.
