How much do you think it will take to repair a police impound? Could I just get a reliable car for 5k instead?

I don’t know how to repair cars so it would probably be cheaper to buy a reliable car….what kind? I don’t want to have to do a lot of upkeep if I get a car for 5k…….I want something economical…..
burton they sell police impounds at auctions so you don’t really have time to take it to a mechanic

Both choices would work good. Police impounds are not always broken. They might not even need any repair. So if you buy a police impound hire a mechanic to come check it out and you might save a lot of money.

you never know what you will get with a police impound, but rest assured the good stuff goes to the cops who take all the expensive cars for undercover work, and then the tow company picks the rest of the good ones, and whatever crap is left gets sold off as crap it is. Unless you work for the tow company, your chances of getting a good police impound car is remote.

Despite the BS answer about the people picking and choosing before they are sold to the public, you can occasionally find a good deal. Keep in mind that these vehicles were abandoned by their previous owner for a reason. Auctions can be a viable way to find a vehicle as long as you realize the risks.
