Does comprehensive car insurance cover others not on the policy?

My Brother has a full comprehensive UK car insurance. Can I drive his car and be covered by the insurance even though I am not listed on the insurance and live at the same address. I have a full UK license, he claims I am covered because he gives me the permission to drive the car which according to him is right.
I have read the insurance policy but my brains are not big enough to understand that “given permission” part.
If anyone can throw more light on this, it will be fully appreciated.

ring the insurance company they will tell you if they will cover you .i dont think they will though your brother can probably drive someone Else’s car with permision but it will be third party only

If it is an any drive policy then yes, but otherwise no.

The permission giving part can sometimes be that even someone who is on the insurance policy not be insured if they don’t have permission to use the car.

If you have your own insurance on another car and are over 23 (or 25 in some cases) then your insurance MAY let you drive other cars, but this would be 3rd party only.

The best plan is for either your brother to get you put on his insurance (sometimes this can cost nothing, or very little), or for you to get temporarily insured. There are some companies who will insure a person on a car for a short time.

Remember, if you drive it and you are not insured, not only would you have to pay for any damage you cause, but also you could use your license, and get fined and maybe in extreme cases go to jail.

For this to work your policy has to name the other person that it covers, if not then they are not covered.Try this insurance, works for me http://www.zippy.com.au

    Thanks

Hey there, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog site in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, great blog!
