    ‘Northernscum’ is right with the Avenger but I’m not sure it was still available in the MID-eighties, The Lotus Sunbeam was available in that colour (same manufacturer as the Avenger) and I think the Opel Manta Berlinetta was.

    i think one of the early mazda’s[possably the 323] was sold with some strange colours…there was a harliquin model that had every pannel a different colour…

    I also think it was a capri, I remember seeing a few yellow with a black bonnet.

    what about a mk2 escort mexico or rs2000, i know they came in orange. not sure about a black bonnet though.

    BEWARE some cars simply needed a new bonet just because it had rusted away along front edge.

    My dad had a hillman hunter estate in green and the new bonet came in matt black to be painted as required. Otherwise capri and avenger for sure
