How do you take of your motorbike helmet without looking like a twat?
I bought a motorbike helmet the other day for my bike, its a HJG which the seller said are notorious for being hard to get on or off… I can put it on fine, but taking it off is hard and I look like a cat with its head trapped in a bottle! Any help??
Plus I’ve got an ear piercing which doesn’t help.

Leave it on – you will look “cooler”

Buy a different one it shouldn’t be hard to get off.

Pull it off forwards with your head looking down, and take your piercing out.

The only riders who look like twats are the dead ones! better to have helmet hair than no face.

try a bigger helmet??
i always love it in films where a guy pulls up on his bike takes his helmet off (usually using one hand on each side where the ears are) and shakes his hair out………so sexy!!
motorbikes are sexy!

Perhaps you need the next size up.

No helmet should be hard to put on or take off.
Where did you buy the helmet?
Have you bought the wrong size?
If you have only had the helmet for a very short time, and it’s undamaged, see if you can exchange it for the correct size!

yes the on tight right around the checks and the best way to take it off is to lean back and slide it off by rabing the front of the helmet and pulling up while leaning back that way no one can see your face

To avoid bad cases of helmet hair, I wear my helmet everywhere even when not on the bike.
To the gym,
In the swimming pool,
even at the office!
However, everyone at work thinks its because I have a cold sore!
Why is that?!!

go buy a 3/4 convertible helmet. the entire face and area around your cheeks folds up. I am pretty sure HJC makes them also,….
or you could go spend a little money and get a new helmet padding insert that is a size bigger..

They told you and you still bought it, with an ear piercing you are a twat.

If your bike has a windshield, try an open-face 3/4 helmet, or do like me and keep your head shaved…my bald head makes it much easier to remove helmet, plus you don’t get bad case of helmet hair 🙂

Shave your head

Easy.
I look like a prick.

full faced helmets are dangerous… the ignorant are going to thumbs down me for this… but i’ve been through a 70 mph hwy crash and skid with a beanie and know i wouldn’t be here today if i had a heavy 3 or 4 pound lump on my head, my beanie weighed ounces and saved my spine.
plus, the emts will make a spine injury worse removing a full faced helmet
my little beanie saved me and it did whack the pavement, docs and cops all agreed i’d be in a power chair if i’d have been wearing a full faced death trap!
get rid of that thing unless you want to be a vegetable (much like the losers that will inevitably thumbs down my answer)

hahaha. sorry the ‘twat’ word made me laugh.
but if you’re having trouble, grip either the straps or the part that they’re attached to right next to your ears and pull outward, this should relieve the tension that tends to snag the ears and the piercing in your case. then slide up and forward off your head.
tip: make sure you don’t have a goofy expression on your face like you’re about to crap yourself. keep it neutral.

Pull out wards on the sides of the helmet level with your ears, were the straps attach, then lift straight up.

I’ve got a HJC helmet and as with other responders, a baldy head saves so much hassle with hair. The easiest way I have found to remove the helmet is grip it with both hands under the front section and roll it back of your head. Gripping it with your thumbs also helps to hold back the cover under the chin as your removing the helmet. As regards your ear piercing you will save yourself a lot of pain by removing it

youve got one thats to small for you…..
May 22nd, 2010 at 10:42 pm
I have an HJC (3/4 helmet) and do not have this problem. Sounds like it may be too small. I also use a head rag at all times and have multiple ear piercings. It was harder to get it off the first week, but as it conforms to your head better (and with practice), it gets easier, usually. Sometimes I have to reach in and get my head rag back and put it back on though.

get rid of your ear rings take them out before putting for helmet on
i have to
then you always put your helmet on by pulling the helmet over your head with the 2 straps
do it up mine had the Doubled d chain
TAKING IT OF
under it
get both your thumbs one one each side of ya helmet
and push it off
there u go
if u find it too hard then maybe your helmet is to small for you
cus it a load of crap about hjc being head to take off i have use them lots of times along with other makes like shark ,kbc, nitro etc
they r all the same
just some are not as easy wearing in as other and it hurts your cheeks
all way when buying a helmet make sure it has the gold sticker on it
as long as it has this your head is fine so dont worry about the price of your lid its the sticker u look for

Pull both of the neck straps outwards when getting it off. It should make life a little easier.
May 23rd, 2010 at 12:20 am
