How do motorcycle permits work when you turn 18?

I am currently 17 years old, and am turning 18 here in September. I’ve taken a motorcycle safety course and am ready to get my license, but I was wondering what will happen when I turn 18. I know usually for permits you have to wait a year to get your endorsement, but when I turn 18 will I be able to just switch it to the endorsement instead of waiting? If not I’ll just have to wait till September to get the endorsement.

I bet if you call the DMV(Department of Motor Vehicles) or BMV (Bureau of)which ever applies in your state, the answer they give you will be the correct one. With out knowing which state, you might get some bad advice on YA.

As far as I know, you don’t even need a permit to get your license. If you’ve already taken and passed the course, and received your certificate, than you should immediately be able to receive your motorcycle license. Ask your instructor to be sure: I’m only going by Georgia laws.
